Two MPA Students Receive AICPA Scholarships
Class of 2012 MPA students Brandon Wenzel and Scott Wingo have each been awarded a 2011-12 John L. Carey Scholarship. Ten Carey Scholarships are funded each year by the American Institute of CPA’s foundation to honor students with little or no accounting education who are seeking a graduate accounting degree and CPA licensure.
The $5,000 scholarship was created to encourage and reward students from diverse educational backgrounds. To be eligible a student must have received a liberal arts or non-business undergraduate degree with no more than 12 credits in accounting or business.
AICPA Foundation President Bill Travis says these students have “a broad knowledge base to draw from that will complement their accounting degree. We welcome them with open arms.”
Recipients of the Carey Scholarship are selected by a task force which considers applicants based on academic achievement, leadership and commitment to pursuing the CPA licensure. Applicants must be full-time graduate level students for the upcoming academic year.
