Giving Thanks

orange fall foliage

We love hearing from fellow Longhorns, about their fond memories of the Forty Acres and how those years shaped their lives. Here we share a few of these comments in celebration of this season of giving thanks.

What are you most thankful for about your McCombs/UT education? Tell us in the comments below.

"...No matter what I am doing, business or social, I run into someone I knew at the business school. And I think that is just invaluable. Because it's a connection, it's a person. Everybody has a soft spot in their heart for this." — Elizabeth Horne, BBA ’74

"I can look back at those core classes and say I use what I learned on a daily basis... But also I made incredible friends that have helped me throughout my career." — Leslie Cedar, MBA '98

"[My McCombs education] helped me become the kind of person that is comfortable with taking initiative and finding their own path." — Nina Godiwalla, BBA ’97

"...In the end [it's about] the friends you made and the relationships that you remember. Not the grades you make or the tests you take. It’s the relationships that are going to affect you and be the most meaningful to you." — Matt Polze, BBA ’99, MPA ’99

"I was miserable in my consulting job before going back to school searching to discover my passion and make a huge life change. ...My MBA experience completely changed my career plan and enriched my life." — Karen Kelly, MBA ’05

#1 I was talking with Alejandro

I was talking with Alejandro (Alex) Garcia Herrera, a current MSTC student, and we agreed that one of the things we learned here was our capacity for handling tough situations! That sounds funny, but many times I have found myself thinking, "I know I can handle this, because I faced greater challenges getting my MBA." Count me thankful for learning that I can do hard things.
